About Me

Hi there!

It's so lovely to have you visit my space and I hope that you stay a while exploring the many gifts of serendipity gathered here just for you.

If you've popped in during the day we'll be sitting on the back verandah with a cup of tea and something delicious to nibble on while chatting about what's been happening in our worlds.
However if there's colour in the sky and the sun is setting, there'll be champagne and Siberian Mules on offer by the pool and we'll share our hopes and dreams & count the stars.

Either way I hope you enjoy your visit and come back again & again.

In the meantime here's a quick 'A-Z' about me derived from questions that were set by Elycia:

A// Age: 43

B// Bed size: King although Captain V & I end up snuggled together so it may as well be a double

C// Chore that I hate: Cleaning toilets & showers

D// Dogs: Luke the treasure

E// Essential start to my day: Opening up my laptop to say a quick hello to my friends & family.
Lately my Blogland wanderings are enjoyed accompanied by a fruit & vege juice that I've blended and which Captain V has nicknamed "Drac Juice" as it's a deep purple from the beetroots that I add in - a lovely image no?

F// Favourite colour: Anything ocean inspired. Sea green, aquamarine, coral pink, bright white...need I go on?

G// Gold or Silver: Mostly silver but I can wear both. One of my treasured pieces is a Koolaman necklace that you will spy in the photo below. It has the names of all my precious Grandparents stamped into it.

H// Height: Short! Let's just say around the 160cm mark and that there's only one child left in our house smaller than me....he's sporting a lovely brick hat.

I// Instruments I play: Clarinet [well I did long, long ago!] and I took piano lessons last year which I hope to resume in the not-too-distant future.

J// Job title: Education Consultant. My passion is enabling positive 'thinking & learning' cultures and I've also worked for many, many years as a Gifted Education specialist.  I'm currently doing my own graduated return to the workforce after many years battling illness and chronic fatigue.

K// Kids: Three stepchildren whom you will read about on this blog as 'The Gifts'. The Biggest Gift is 15, the Middle Sized Gift is 14 and the Littlest Gift is 10.
Not being blessed with children of my own, these three amazing people were an unexpected & lovely addition to my life and I enjoy guiding them to be the best they can be with Captain V as our navigator.

L// Live: In the ultimate rural/coastal community just West of Noosa = bliss!

M// Mother's name: Margy B - she's a true sparkler!

N// Nicknames: Seriously? With a name like Felicity I was always destined to have a gazillion.
My favourite? Flossy because it's the one used by my precious niece and some of my closest friends.

O// Overnight hospital stay: Yikes there's been a few. The worst over a week fighting septicaemia in 2005.

P// Pet peeve: Disrespectful behaviour

Q// Quote from a movie: I'll confess that I don't have a great memory for such things but I'll let you in on a secret, I LOVE the most recent "Sherlock Holmes" movies with Robert Downey Jnr & Jude Law - brilliant.
So I had to research a quote for you and this one gives you an idea about what I love about these movies:

[a chambermaid enters Irene Adler's room and screams when she sees Holmes, handcuffed naked to the bed with a pillow covering his groin]
Sherlock Holmes: Madam, I need you to remain calm. And trust me, I'm a professional. Beneath this pillow, lies the key to my release.
[the Maid screams again and runs out; cut to later in a carriage]
Sherlock Holmes: Of course, she mis-interpreted my meaning entirely.
Constable Clark: Naturally, sir.

R// Right or left handed: Right

S// Siblings: One precious younger brother Trent - he's all the more special as we lost our brother Matthew in a bike accident when he was just 10.

T// Time I wake up: Between 5:30 and 6:00 on a good day, but the reality is at least half and hour later during the school term. On holidays I revel in waking up when my body does, no schedule before me and the chance of a snooze after lunch - aaaah!

U// Underwear: Bendon and Oroton are my favourites although most often Jockey for its softness - what a strange question....I suppose 'U' is a tricky letter to fill.

V// Vegetable I hate: I'm not a fan of coriander but as I love Thai food it's beginning to grow on me.

W// What makes me run late: Faffing.
I'm really punctual and like to have everything laid out ready the night before but I can self-sabotage by adding in an extra job to fill in a few minutes before I leave or perhaps get hoodwinked into looking at my laptop...and we all know the vortex that is the internet right?!?

X// X-Rays I've had: All sorts but I won't bore you with the details

Y// Yummy food that I make: In recent years I've adapted my cooking from that of a single gal who enjoyed entertaining to that of family chef.  The kids love my lasagne, fried rice and stir frys and I enjoy making curries and Thai food.

Z// Zoo animal: I'm bound to raise a few eyebrows with this but I'm not a fan of animals in cages.
One of the most distressing images that's burned into my memory is of emaciated animals at Buenos Aires zoo - I was with a tour group and had to leave as I felt helpless and so very sad.
If this question was 'Creatures that I love' the response would be: Owls [particularly the Tawny frogmouth, who aren't actually an own but a Nightjar) butterflies and moths
(actually most insects), frogs, echidnas, flopsy eared rabbits....I'll stop as the list goes on and on.
You won't be surprised to learn that I'm a big fan of David Attenborough and feel very, very lucky to live in a part of the world where wildlife is a daily treat.

Phew, I'm so glad to have all of that out of my head!
So there you have it, I've unlocked a few of my secrets in this little 'A-Z' about me, I hope you feel like you know me better now.

I'd be thrilled if you decided to create one of your own as it's always a delight getting to know my Blogerista friends.
If you want to add a scrabble image just like the one at the top, pop on over to Kellie's where she's made a template just for you.

Happy day my friend, I'm looking forward to your next visit.
