Hello friend, are you ready to put on your zhushy hat and play with this week's challenge word?
I'd be thrilled if you left a note here or wrote a post with the phrase 'au fait' as the focus.
In addition to the defiintion provided you can be 'au fait' if you're acquainted with the facts; well informed; proficient; expert in or with something.
If I were to nominate areas in which I feel comfortable to say that I'm 'au fait' the following spring to mind:
* making a rich, scrummy, lip-smacking lasagne
* selecting, wrapping and presenting beautiful gifts
* the field of Gifted Education
* keeping Captain V happy & loved up
* Navigating shortcuts up and down the Sunshine Coast to get kids to sport on time - yay!
Things I'd love to be 'au fait' with:
* managing my comfort eating and anxiety [getting there]
* CPR and general first aid - coping well with snake bites, heart attack, stroke etc
* dealing with teen attitude [Captain V is the King of this, so there's hope!]
* the fine arts - art history, techniques, you name it, I'd love to have a great teacher to guide me
* the 'classics' in literature - as you know, I'm stepping my feet on this path with your guidance
* Paris, The Dordogne, Ubud, Italy, The Barossa Valley, Snow Pond, Tasmania.....actually this is a long list
* stand up paddle boarding
How about you? Don't give yourself too long to think about it, do as I did and tap it out.
If I'd thought more about it, I'm sure I'd revise my list significantly....so I'm going to press 'Post' now.
Happy day!

had to go look up how to pronounce it properly. :)
ReplyDeletei'd love to be au fait on grammar and punctuation. i used to be much more adept with the english language. quite lax, these days! :)
Good point about the pronunciation T, I've added a little gadget but must say that my Aussie accent pronounces it "Oh Fay!" which is cute if your name is Fay....or not.
DeleteGrammar is a "Snap!" for me and your giggle-making sentence was a gem.

Hmm, there must be a tonne of things I'd like to be oh Fay in but the first that springs to mind is the French language and piano.
ReplyDeleteI am definitely au fait in cheese eating :)
With your 'fromagerie' skills Sarah I'd say you're half way there when it comes to speaking French add in a cheeky red and you're just about set!
DeletePiano is one of my desired skills too - it's a two step process: 1. Get the piano 2. Return to lessons with my gorgeous teacher Mikki.
Happy day, playing with 'au fait'.

It depends on the day whether I am au fait...or fair. Sleep definitely helps.
ReplyDeleteGiggle maker!
DeleteI wish I had been au fait with CPR! Not, as it turned out, that it would have made a difference, but I would have felt less useless!!!!!!
DeleteThis is something we all need to be au fait with!!!!!!!!
Such a poignant note Jules...extra incentive for me to get this 'sorted'.

Loving your list - yet more insights into you, Lovely! I can certainly attest to your wizardry in 'selecting, wrapping and presenting beautiful gifts'. And I'm glad Tasmania is on your list ☺. J x
ReplyDeleteGifting is something that we both enjoy my friend and as for Tasmania - too.far.awaaaaaaaay!

Yep Felicity book yourself into a quick CPR course, it will the most empowering thing you'll ever do. Just knowing that you have the ability to perhaps save a life will put a certain spring in your step, believe me.
ReplyDeleteAs for my Oh Fay stuff, I'd like to be able to apply make-up with the flair of a Hollywood professional. I buy lots, but have zero confidence in actually using it to it's best advantage. I would sell a couple of the kids for a week observing one of these talented folk on a big movie set.

Yep, I've learnt that things have changed with CPR rules and as we age [Captain V turns 50 next month!] I think it's becoming more vital....don't tell him I said that though!
DeleteMakeup, schmakeup I really am a shocker and hardly ever wear it, so I'd be right by your side if you scored a gig with a pro....actually time with Nikki Parkinson from 'Styling You' would be enough to get me rolling....as for the kid thing - genius!
