The question was curt.
We were late for a function,
My feelings he'd hurt.
In the morning we'd fought,
He had begged me to stay.
My senses were frought,
I had worried all day.
How to convince him,
My will to assert.
I would not succumb,
To the victim revert.
Now it was evening,
We returned to the fray.
My lover was seething,
I was tres déshabillé.
PS I have titled this poem 'Tres Déshabillé - A Saga In Four Parts'.
I hope that you like the notion of déshabillé meaning physically undressed and to have your heart and mind exposed or perhaps in disarray.

ReplyDeleteCharming. The pairing with the artwork was perfect, enjoyed both very much. This really happened to my husband before he met me of course. He went to pick up his date for his office Christmas party and when she opened the door he asked "is that what you're wearing?", I can only laugh now poor fella, don't think he enjoyed the rest of his evening.
